Got this for my new 500i, I had a stock 500i for 3 years, I figured I'd try an upgrade for this new one.
After I let it get some idle time, and re learn the fuel mapping in the computer, it really woke up this saw in the bogging cuts where you have the bar buried.
"To me" there is a notable difference in peak rpm in the kerf, makes dare I say 1500 ish rpm over stock.
Well worth the time to install, I also have the optional deflector and it works great, no burnt up gloves or fingers when handling from the clutch side of the saw.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND
These new saws tune with the latest mtronic carbs tune themselves quite well and quickly, and will supply the optimal amount of fuel with the new rate of flow to the exhaust side.
it's bolt on power, my next move is either a max flow or the egan filter option, have not yet decided.
The way i see it, to achieve best results you need to supply the carb and computer with as much "clean air" as is needs, more air in + more air out, with the "right amount of fuel" at all times make big power across the rpm range.
All in all, great quality in build and welds look great.
If you are still not sold, go on Facebook or YouTube and see the comparison of the egan stock 500i with bolt on versus the "ripsaw" ported 500i, it's nearly as fast and you don't even have to pull it apart or send it out, and spend another 600$ just bolt on and get after it.
